Design 1 sport bottle cap mould

Normally sport bottle is bigger than spring water bottle, so it’s cap also much bigger.

There is a very important character that this kind of cap have to seal water on both main thread and top lid section. And making top lid close and open not loose and not tight, in the sametime, need to have very good feeling on the close and open. With thus high requirement on this cap, 3D drawing of cap and cap mould have to be finished perfectly.

Our company use UG (Siemens NX) and autocad to make mould design and mould tooling drawing. Mould structure and tooling sizes are exactly showed on the mould 3D design. With this our engineer and technician can tool the moulds accordingly.

Sport bottle cap mould, core and cavity use S136 steel. Its hardness is 48-52HRC after hardening treatment. This steel provide the mould with long life more than 2,000,000shots. Perfect steel as well as perfect mould design. Mould design is another most important matter for the mould.

Above sport bottle cap have two different sizes. One big and one small. And top cover suit for both of them. The cap top have two holes, these two holes need pins to form them. We design two small air cylinder to forward and pull back the pins.

Mould tooling process: Cap design –> Cap mould design –> Mould steel purchase –> Steel cutting, grinding –> CNC milling tooling –> Drilling holes and cooling lines –> Vacuum hardening treatment –> CNC engraving tooling, lathe tooling and boring tooling –> Assembling and parting line matching –> Polish –> Mould test –> Mould delivery.

This sport bottle cap is for small diameter bottle. But cap also have hole to put hangers. Above pictures samples are all made with PP plastic material. However, actually the best is main cap made by PP and top lid made by HDPE. So these two parts hardness can be different, cap close can more smooth.

New design changed according client’s sample. As old sample design have some disadvantage, new sport bottle cap design remove these defects.
